BRITISH manufacturer Hesketh's latest model, the Sonnet cafe racer, which was first revealed last year, will be available this summer for circa £26,000 - a price we're waiting for confirmation of.
The Sonnet is the follow-up to the 24, which was Hesketh’s first new bike for over 30 years, and it looks to be just as bold (and loud, we’re confidently guessing) as the 24.
Like the 24, the Sonnet is powered by a huge, air-cooled American S&S V-twin engine – 2,100cc, to be precise, with pushrod actuated valves and a Rivera Primo six-speed gearbox. It punts out 145hp at 6,000rpm and a whopping 154lb/ft torque at 3,000rpm.
The engine is housed in a chomoly-steel tube frame and suspension duties are handled by a K-Tech USD fork and K-Tech Bullit Springless shock.
A pair of radial Brembo monoblocs and a Brembo rear caliper take care of braking duties.
Visually, it’s not lacking presence thank to plenty of chrome on the engine, a stitched leather seat, drop bars, fly screen, large bullet-style tail unit and Hesketh’s unmistakable logo adorning the sides of the tank.
