HARLEY-DAVIDSON has long been promising an electric motorcycle, and after the American manufacturer trademarked the ‘H-D Revelation’ name, it looks like it’s not far away.
An application to trademark the name was filed with the United States Patent and Trademark Office for batteries, chargers, and motorcycle powertrains by H-D USA on Monday.
With an electric Harley set to arrive before 2020, and the trademark application concerning ‘electric batteries’ and ‘electric drives for motorcycles’, all signs point to the Revelation powertrain featuring in Harley’s first production EV.
It would fit well with the Milwaukee manufacturer’s modus operandi – the Sportster is, after all, powered by the Evolution engine, and the Street 750s have the Revolution X.
While this trademark doesn’t tell us what the model itself may be called, Harley-Davidson did just trademark the 48X, Pan America and Bronx names.
But whether they’ll be applied to the electric model, or further variants of pre-existing models, is yet to be seen.
