And one of them will top 100mpg

ELECTRIC motorcycle manufacturer Brammo has just revealed their latest contribution to zero-emission riding: the Empulse.

The new naked, which can propel riders to an emission-friendly 100mph, is available in three different guises: 6.0, 8.0 and the 10.0.

The digits refer to each bike's range: 60 miles, 80 and a whopping 100 miles from the 10.0 from a full charge.

The Empulse 6.0 will cost $9,995 (£6500) the 8.0 $11,995 (£8100) and the 10.0 is to retail at $13,995 (£9,100) when they go on sale later this year.

UK pricing and availability is TBA.

Great looking, quiet and zero emissions.  They should be able to sell a ton of these.

Mr. Brammofan
"And one of them will top 100mph" Actually, all three bikes will be capable of <100mph.  The only difference is the storage capacity of the batteries on board, thus the effective range.

How much are the batteries?  How easy will it be to upgrade to more efficient ones in the future? How long to charge? Can we have belt drive instead of chain?  What will the insurance be like? Have they made any other improvements to the bike technology?  Does it have electronic suspension control?

What a great article, so informative.

Why, exactly, would you want a bike styled on race replica lines, at race replica prices, that is battery operated? Some kind of weird perceived macho connection, created in an ad studio, has removed all conventional logic. I have ridden very good electric bikes - and this isn't what they are about.

Low saver interest rates, carbon footprint awareness - the latest scam to tempt cash rich investors has materialised. Who knows, some fucking bankers may fall for it - happy days!!!

100 mpg?  gallon of what....lithium?

I take it with 2 other references to 100 that the mpg is a typo... drive belt uses valuable power, chain is more efficient & this thing needs all the help it can get... ditto the sports rep look... they probably tried a fairing but it weighed too much for too little gain & extra cost... with this thing you probably want to think about whether you really need to eat that pie before you go on a journey if you want to be sure of reaching your destination.

I like it... a definite step in the right direction.
