Bimota’s 190hp supercharged 'hyper-naked'

Italian marque reveals details of 2016 range with this teaser image of a new Tesi 3D café racer

EXCLUSIVE Italian marqe Bimota has made a surprise announcement of new models ahead next week’s Milan show, including a supercharged naked bike making around 190hp.

No pictures have been released yet, but Bimota says the ‘Impeto’ will use the 162hp Testastretta engine from Ducati’s Diavel, and that an optional supercharger will give the 1198cc V-twin a boost in power and torque of 15-20%.

The firm says the supercharger kit has been developed for Bimotas using Ducati liquid-cooled engines and turns the new Impeto into a ‘true tyre burner’.

The Impeto comes with ABS, ride-by-wire throttle and traction control, and can be offered with carbon fibre swing-arm and frame tubes.

Bimota also announced a new ‘Tesi 3D RaceCafe’, a café racer version of the existing hub-centre-steered Tesi 3D Naked, with the above teaser image.

The Tesi 3D RC can be raised or lowered by up to 23mm by adjusting the front and rear swing-arms, the firm said.

For people who want to build their own Bimota, the firm is offering a kit version of its BMW S1000RR-powered BB3. The ‘BB3 Kit’ consists of a ‘complete rolling chassis with all the necessary parts to build a fully functional motorcycle except for the engine and electric/electronic systems that come from BMW’.

The bikes are due to be shown at the Eicma Milan motorcycle show next Tuesday at 8am.
