ITALIAN MANUFACTURER Benelli has imported the first few models of the company's Café Racer 899 into UK dealers.

The 120bhp, three-cylinder, liquid-cooled engine features a new cylinder head, pistons, cams and new ignition mapping to give smoother power delivery and better low speed throttle control, claim Benelli.

Like its bigger brother the Café Racer 1130, the 899 features gold Marzocchi front forks, 320mm Brembo front brake discs and fully adjustable suspension.

The 899 is £8,399 on the road and comes with two years parts and labour warranty.

Looks like it had a front ender and somebody just fitted new forks and wheel, then left the rest of the bike squashed up.  Certainly differant!

MajorDrama

Reckon its a work of art and will be A Blast to fang about on.. Even if most of the manufacturing has discreetly slithered off to china?.. as it must have done given the chinese purchase of benelli and the remarkly cheap pricing (by "exotica" standards) surely?. Yeah it is a relatively naked design and nakeds tend to have less stylising as a rule of course, but this is definitely the cut of a dfferent cloth style-wise.  The triple engine certainly should give it a character rather unlike a screamer4 anyway.  My issue is that the basic design must be pushing 5 years or so old.. The cafe racer came out ages ago, based on the generic TNT format that all these benellis had, but with clip-ons instead of risers, a cool gold colour, & sporting the 1130 powerplant.. Now reanimated - Same old chassis and form package but with the smaller 900 engine. Given the excellent price, potential rider segment and capability of a 900 triple this machine may sell well. Good news is it was said to be a very nice ride before.. Hopefully the reliability has been sorted this time round. Looking forward to a really long extensive road test review of all aspect of this potentially excellent beast!
