Bajaj Pulsar SS400 and CS400 launched

Pulsar CS400 and SS400 get ABS

BAJAJ Auto has unveiled two new bikes at the Indian Auto Expo show.

The bikes are called the Pulsar CS400 and the Pulsar SS400. Both are powered by the same 373.2cc single-cylinder engine.

The engine is the same 373cc single that powers KTM’s Duke 390 and RC390 but it has been fettled by Bajaj and now features their own ‘triple spark technology’. The engine is mounted in Bajaj’s own steel frame with very distinctive styling. The looks of the bike come as no surprise, since leaks and spy shots over the last year or so have long since revealed the bug-eyed styling.

The firm also showed the 400CS, which is a naked take on the same theme, using the same styling as the existing Pulsar 200 – itself powered by KTM’s Duke 200 motor.

Bajaj is still being coy about the detailed specs of the bikes, but given the fact the engines come straight from KTM – which is largely owned by Bajaj – a glance at the Duke 390 or RC390 power figures (43bhp) should be a pretty good indication of what to expect. Specs are thin on the ground but both machines will be fitted with ABS, a digital console and a tank-mounted gear indicator.
