ELI Tomac is officially back on top after taking his third consecutive 450 win in the Lucas Oil Pro Motocross series at the weekend.

The Kawasaki rider dominated the technical sand track of Southwick and claimed his third 1-1 of the season.

With no Jason Anderson racing this weekend, Tomac's main challenges were coming from Blake Bagget and Red Bull KTM's Marvin Musquin. Riding with a potentially broken thumb from RedBud, Bagget managed to ignore the pain to come second in both moto's, losing only 6 points to Tomac in total.

The weekend did not go so well for Musquin. A crash in the first turn of the first moto meant the Frenchman was on a point salvaging mission in the first race, but did incredibly well to finish in fourth place.

In the second moto, whilst trying to stay close to a top-speed Tomac, Marvin appeared to get cross-rutted on the take-off of a jump and was subsequently sent flying off the track in a spectacular crash. After an attempted re-start, a devastated looking Musquin soon retired.

Southwick also saw a best career finish for Factory Yamaha's Cooper Webb, who finished fourth overall.

After taking the red plate from Bagget at RedBud, Tomac has now started building his championship lead and currently sits 19 points ahead of Blake Bagget. Without a doubt, Tomac is the man to beat in this year's American outdoors.

The 250 class saw the super consistent Rockstar Husqvarna rider Zach Osborne take his fourth overall of the season with a solid 2-1 victory.

Moto 1 saw a heap of exciting lead changes as the riders battled it out in the first few laps. R.J Hampshire managed to take the lead away from Holeshot winner Alex Martin, but ended up on the floor after one lap in the lead. As Ferrandis started to put pressure on front runners Martin and Aaron Plessinger, Plessinger found himslef going over the bars and Ferrandis engaged in an epic and eventually successful battle with Martin for the lead.

Zach Osborne then made his pass on Martin for second, but was unable to challenge Ferrandis who took the win with an almost eight second lead.

After winning the first race of the day, Star Yamaha's Dylan Ferrandis put in a strong performance in Moto 2, but as the heavens opened and the rain poured onto the sand, Ferrandis was unable to catch Osborne who led from the start to take the moto and overall win, extending championship lead to 45 points ahead of Alex Martin.

After a short break, the Pro Motocross series returns to Spring Creek on July 22nd.
