THE AMERICAN Motorcycle Industry Council have published stark figures on total motorcycles sales in the USA in 2010.

In 2009, the motorcycle industry in the USA saw a massive drop in sales as almost 360,000 fewer motorcycles were sold compared to 2008. The report shows that in 2010, motorcycle sales dropped a further 15% on 2009's already drastic figures.

440,000 motorcycles were sold in the USA in 2010, 82,000 less than in 2009. Off-road bikes have seen the largest decrease, with over 23% less sold in 2010 compared to 2009.

I think the manufacturers are missing an opportunity to take advantage of the economy to sell smaller bikes with higher mpg. They should be selling the same bikes they sell all over Asia and market them to college students, etc. at affordable prices.
