POLARIS Industries, one of the leading manufacturers of off-road vehicles, all-terrain vehicles and snowmobiles, has acquired Swissauto Powersports.

The acquisition is the culmination of an ongoing partnership between the two companies; Swissauto, developer of prototype internal combustion engines, produce the four-stroke Weber engine used by Polaris in several of the company's range of snowmobiles. In addition, Swissauto also develops top-spec racing engines for motorcycle racing.

Scott Wine, chief executive officer of Polaris, said: "Swissauto has industry leading powertrain design and development capabilities and a strong understanding of turbo-charging and high-performance engines. This acquisition directly supports our stated objectives to be the best in powersports and a global market leader."
