George White back ... but without bikes?

GEORGE WHITE could be re-opening their doors for business, although it's likely they'll only be selling clothing and accessories, not motorcycles.

The company, which ceased trading in January, could re-open their Swindon branch under a new name this weekend.

A Visordown reader who was passing the store saw some activity and dropped-in to ask what was going on. He said: "I was passing [the Swindon branch] today, and doors were open, popped in to be nosey, and was told open from next Saturday.... Main showroom all kitted out with clothing, helmets etc.... don't know full circumstances but I believe not just open to shift outstanding stock. Looks like clothing only at present."

The Motorcycle News ran a story yesterday, titled: 'George White puts stock online weeks after folding', however this was then removed from their website due to 'legal issues'.

At the Swindon branch, the main offices and cafe were being stripped out to make more space for retail but there was no sign of any motorcycles on display.

Visordown has contacted George White's administrators, Deloitte but they've yet to provide a statement.

HOPE THEY OPEN IN DARLINGTON MY BROTHER WAS CONNED INTO PUTTING £6000 DOWN FOR A BIKE THAT WAS COMING LATER THAT YEAR, TWO WEEKS LATER THEY SHUT DOWN. THE SALES REP MUST HAVE KNOW THEY WERE GOING DOWN THE PAN BUT TOOK HIS MONEY ANYWAY, TW@T.

The staff didn't know it was the bank that closed them! horrible as it is the salesmen had no idea and turned up to work to find they had no job! iv been in the same position in the past with a dealership and we as the sales staff were the last to know :(

@ Dash65

No, the staff had no idea what was about to happen, so give the rep some credit. And as for you brother being conned, I'm sure they didn't put a gun to his head to sign up for a new bike, did they.

Swearing isn't big, nor clever.

No-one had a gun to his head, your right but the sales rep convinced him that his money would be safe!
As for swearing, if you can lose £6000 and not be upset about it good for you, but my brother saved that money little by little, going into the show room time and time again to check out the bike he wanted, so he couldn't afford to lose £6000 and he has been told he'll never see that money again!!! So swearing doesnt even come close to how he feels, but thanks for the positive feedback!!!
