A TOP DUCATI dealership in the United States has launched a deadly serious and ambitious crowdfunding campaign to buy Ducati from current owner Audi. The move comes after rumours that Ducati could be sold followin the VW emissions scandal.

MotoCorsa is behind the effort to own its beloved Italian manufacturer and on its Indiegogo page it gives donators the chance to put in as little as $5 and as much as the full $1.6 billion.

If you think that sounds a bit crazy, you’re right – there’s been no official news that Ducati is for sale and MotoCorsa is having a bit of fun, but come on – a bunch of passionate American owners (the same guys who made the 1199 TerraCorsa) could take Ducati in bold new directions. On its crowdfunding page, it says:

‘The motorcycle industry has valued Ducati Motor Holding S.p.A.  at $1.6 billon, and while it's a bit more than we had budgeted, with your help we think we can raise funds to buy the company.

‘Big corporations have had their turn running Ducati and now it's time for a scrappy little motorcycle shop from Portland, Oregon to have our shot. We need your help to make it happen.’
