‘Queen of Bikers’ Maria Costello has joined forces with IAM RoadSmart in an effort to get more women out and about on two wheels.
As part of this collaboration IAM RoadSmart is offering one lucky rider the chance to win a spot on Costello’s women only motorbike track day later this month.
Riding with the racer promises to be an extremely rewarding experience. With a career spanning two decades, and 40 starts at the Isle of Man TT under her belt, Costello made her name as the first women to claim a podium on the island, when she took third place in the Ultra Lightweight category of the 2005 Manx Grand Prix. From 2004 to 2009, she held the Guinness World Record for the fastest female lap of the TT’s Snaefell mountain course, with an average speed of 114.73 mph.
Only last year, she achieved a female lap record at the Vauxhall International Northwest 200, and also took a podium spot in the Isle of Man Senior Classic TT.
The Hel Performance/Maria Costello MBE women only track day group will take place at Donington Park on September 20.
Costello commented: “This the perfect opportunity for female riders to get together in good company to boost their confidence, learn how to enjoy their riding more, learn useful skills and techniques that they can take with them to be safer on the road.”
