William Crum

REMEMBER the Texan driver who deliberately swerved into a motorcyclist and said he ‘didn’t care’ he’d knocked the rider and his pillion to the ground?

The heartless driver of the car is 69-year-old William Crum and after a two-day trial at 355th District Court in Hood County, Texas, he’s been sentenced to 15 years in prison after being convicted of aggravated assault with a deadly weapon and aggravated assault with a deadly weapon causing bodily injury.

The 15-year sentence means that Crum, who was arrested soon after the incident in October, will be in prison until he’s 84.

The incident happened in Granbury, Texas, towards the end of October last year. Rider Eric Sanders and his girlfriend Debra Simpson were deliberately knocked off by Crum who attempted to justify his actions by claiming he got stung by a wasp, and pointed out that Sanders was making an illegal move (he was passing Crum, who was under the speed limit and Sanders’ ticket for the offence was dismissed).

The incident was filmed by following rider Brian Fisher. After witnessing the crash, Fisher asked Crum what he as doing, to which Crum replied, ‘I don’t care.’
