A Scottish motocross racer has been left devastated following the theft of his two KTMs, one of which was only a day old.
Gerard Dewar, 21, discovered that the 2016 KTM 250 SXF and 2017 KTM 150 SX – which he had bought the day before – had been stolen on the morning of Tuesday, August 15th.
The engineer believes the bikes, worth a combined total of almost £10,000, were taken from the garage at his home in Bannockburn sometime during the night.
Dewar, who has already competed in a number of events at clubman level, had saved his wages to buy the new bike with the intention to race it in the 2018 Scottish Motocross Championships.
Speaking to the Stirling Observer, he said: “I am devastated by what has happened. Not only because I’ve spent a lot of money on these bikes but also because this is my passion, and now I’m not going to be able to race.
“My dad came in from the garage at around 10.30pm on the Monday night, and when we went back out on the Tuesday morning we saw that the bikes had gone. It looks like they’ve burst in through the bottom of the door and got in that way.
“I work as an engineer and this is money I’ve saved up to buy these bikes. I’m absolutely gutted.”
“I only got the new bike on the Sunday night and I have a feeling that it’s someone who knows me that’s done this. Either that or it’s just a strange coincidence.
“These are top-of-the-line bikes and I would ask anyone who has any information about who might have them to come forward.”
