Daniel Day-Lewis ‘breaks arm in motorcycle crash’

DANIEL Day-Lewis is reported to have broken his arm in a recent motorcycle crash.

The Gangs of New York star has been filmed in the street near his New York home holding his bandaged left arm with what looks like a hospital IV drip still attached to the right.

An unnamed source told celebrity gossip site Page Six: “He was in a motorbike accident and broke his arm. But he’s fine, and no one else was hurt. He was well-protected — he was wearing a helmet. But it was a bummer.”

The source added: “It wasn’t his fault.”

A video published by the MailOnline shows the Oscar winner clearly unhappy about being filmed.

The Irish actor, who has previously been spotted at road racing events including the North West 200, approaches and challenges the man behind the camera, demanding “What are you doing? What the **** are you doing?”

The reporter asks: “Are you okay Mr Day-Lewis?" but the actor does not reply.

A representative for Mr Day-Lewis declined to comment when contacted, the Mail reports.

The 60-year-old, who rose to fame in My Left Foot and The Last of the Mohicans, announced his retirement from acting in June.
