VICTIMS OF bike theft Bristol estimate that one gang has stolen over £500,000 worth of motorcycles in from the city since last summer.
The gang has gained notoriety on social media over the past few months due to bragging about its exploits.
Victims have now written a letter to Andy Marsh, chief constable of Avon and Somerset police, to complain about the force’s inaction over the spate of thefts, even though the police have been provided with tip-offs and a dossier of possible suspects.
The letter calls for Avon and Somerset constabulary to form a specialist bike theft unit and target the criminals, and alludes to the possibility of victims taking the law into their own hands due to police inaction.
Police in Bristol have said they are looking into the gang’s ‘bristolbiketaker’ Instagram account and that arrests have been made as part of its investigations. According to the Bristol Post, the force has ‘written to Instagram Instagram requesting the offensive posts are removed.’
