HIDDEN in a lush corner of Wales this summer will take place a motorcycling festival like no other: Camp VC.
Female bikers from all walks of life pitched their tents and partied through the weekend, celebrating all things two-wheeled.
The idea may sound cliché, but the execution was far from it. With ride outs, workshops and even skateboarding lessons on offer, the festival was the epitome of carefree fun. Beer was free, the cocktails cheap, and entertainment put on across the two nights included bands, DJs, disco bingo and even a showing of ‘On Any Sunday, the next chapter’.
Perhaps most interesting of all were the guest speakers – inspirational and successful women from all walks of life. Around-the-world adventurer Elspeth Beard shared the stage with leading female flat track rider Leah Tokelove and pro skaters from the Nefarious crew.
This year’s edition will take place in the Brecon Beacons over the first weekend of August, and will again feature ride outs, riding lessons, a ‘dirt school’, skating camping live talks and entertainment and workshops. New for 2018 will be an onsite bouldering wall.
Following last year’s event, organiser Gemma Harrison commented: “Camp VC was a huge success for 2017! We had a sold out event with over 250 people onsite.
“We had more than 40 women take their first lesson on a motorcycle in our beginners riding classes and flat track classes and a lot of people taking their first try at enduro riding and skateboarding.
“For 2018 we plan to go bigger and better with more riding classes and different motorsport disciplines for people to try out.”
What are you waiting for!
