A GROUP OF friends in China have burned a one-off life-size paper replica Grand Prix motorcycle in honour of their deceased motorcycle-loving comrade.
In order to fulfil the last wishes of their friend, who was dying from angina, the group ordered a life-size paper replica of a Grand Prix racer, before burning it. Prior to his death, the dying man had told his friends he hoped to own a GP motorcycle in the afterlife.
The craftsmen who 'built' the bike, Li Chengzhang, told Guang Ming Daily newspaper that he had never built a GP replica before:
"Our shop made paper sports car and heavy motorcycle before, but we never made a GP motorcycle. However, I accepted the order to fulfil the last wish of the deceased."
After trawling the internet to look for Grand Prix machine drawings, Chengzhang started work on the project:
"Everything was difficult at the beginning. Therefore, they started with the framework of the GP motorcycle. The structure of the framework was complicated and it was very difficult to do. After we set up the framework, the other parts were getting easier."
Bless 'em.
