STEVE MARTIN could debut with the Virgin Media Yamaha team at Brands Hatch World Superbikes next weekend.

Martin, a former Australian Superbike Champion, took a pole position at Brands Hatch WSB in 2003. He tested at Donington Park recently and could sign with the team to see out the 2007 British Superbike season.

The Virgin Media Team could run a 'wildcard' slot at the WSB round, as they use the same Pirelli tyres as used in the WSB championship.

Virgin Media's Tommy Hill took pole position at Silverstone when the team ran a wildcard entry there.

Martin on the WSB grid on a decent bike? Yes please.

Hill only took one WSBK pole last year.

Rob Mac was asked about this in the BSB coverage on ITV last weekend. Martin's experience of Pirelli tyres on Yamaha makes him a good option to help them get the best out of the package. It's a shame Steve's ride fizzled out this year, he's a talented and proven rider. Seems like a good bloke too.
