WSB: Tommy Hill signs with Honda for 2009

"I am absolutely over the moon about it" says Brit ace

TOMMY HILL has signed a deal to ride in World Superbike for 2009. The battling Brit will ride a fully kitted FireBlade in the championship for the Althea Honda squad.Hill was due to contest the World Supersport championship for the Althea Honda set-up this year but two massive crashes, neither through any fault of Hill, wrecked his year with two time-consuming leg injuries.

Speaking from Vallelunga, Hill told visordown: "The team are fielding both WSB and WSS bikes next year and I thought I was in with a shout of being on the WSS again hopefully.

"But they sat me down and said that because I'd raced in the BSB championship for four years against Leon, Tom and the rest they wanted to give me my shot on the big bike.

"I am absolutely over the moon about it."

Hill will line up alongside BSB's Tom Sykes and Johnny Rea who will race for Yamaha and Ten Kate respectively in the big bike class.

If you grouped all the racers by IQ, where the top of the pile was for those with the highest (i.e. probably Valentino Rossi, plus maybe Stoner..),  then I am sure that TH would find himself in the bottom group . Put bluntly he's as thick as pig shit. If anyone's gonna come off the bike first, its usually him, wet or dry .

In short, If it was my choice -  TH, no chance.

He deserves a chance. How much bad luck can someone have. Good luck to him.

Tommy is one of the nicest guys you could meet, allways got time for his fans and showed true spirit in his donington tribute to Craig Jones.Hope he goes extremely well and maybe then captainsensible will no doubt have to eat his words. One year of bad luck that was not even Tommy,s fault does not make a poor rider.

Ilike2thinkso

You don't have to be a rocket scientist to have skill, talent and passion. And as the above post says he always has time to meet and greet his fans. I'd rather a talented guy who has the time of day for people than a clever dick (Stoner???) who hates everyone

Rant over  and breathe..............................

CaptainSensible

I do take your point,  but ultimately these guys are paid to win races, not personality contests. A smart talented rider will usually win over a dumb talented rider. TH I feel is the latter.

I hope he does well, never net the bloke but he comes over well on telly.

I hope Shakey Byrne never gets another top ride on the world stage, he is an ignorant twat, after qualifying at Cadwell all the riders were signing for the fans on their way out of the paddock, Shakey came through on his scooter with his horn blaring and didn't stop, poor show seeing he had finished his riding for the day.

To be fair to Shakey, he was minus a few teeth at the time!

He is a twat, but not for that reason!

BTW - Getting angry cos some twat didn't sign your program ....

.... does that make you a bigger or smaller twat?

Help me out here someone.

Pete, he said Cadwell not Croft.

Ducati Pete

My mistake, your fault.

He is still a twat, and we still have a bloke who wants a twat to sign something.

Scud, are you a Rossi fan? I've heard they like the big man to sign their bits.

Not at Cadwell he wasn't.

I am not angry about it.

I didn't actually say anything about my programme, I am not an autograph hunter, I just witnessed it.

I thought it was off when all the others had time for people who did want an autograph or photo, perhaps he wasn't in the mood, but to just drive through the middle of everyone at a fair speed with his thumb on the horn isn't the way to treat people who are fans.

Part of his job is to meet the fans, isn't it?

That's what Harry thinks. I'd say success has changed him. I agree with Harry.

Ducati Pete

Sorry Scud, I thought you were there program in hand.

You'd of thought it would nice wouldn't you? Some riders are better than others, and I'm sure that all riders have, at some time or another, disappointed some fans because they either had something important to do OR were fed up with signing things.

Foggy was always sodding off, we still made him a national treasure.

I think TBH, Shakey is a bit above signing stuff, he owns his own council house now. It may be in a shite part of Kent - but it has a conservitory and everything!

He's come a long way since his FB video days.

Some people have short memories.
