FORMER AMA Superbike Champion Ben Spies continued his blistering form, setting the fastest time in today's qualifying session at Losail, ahead of the second round of the WSB championship, which takes place this weekend.

Spies took his Yamaha YZF-R1 to a best time of 1:58.886, outpacing Ten Kate Honda's Jonny Rea by 0.2 seconds. Max Biaggi, riding the new Aprilia RSV4, took the third fastest time at the desert circuit, clocking a 1:59.499 - Biaggi's team-mate, Shinya Nakano, couldn't match Max's pace, ending the session in 14th position.

Britain's Tom Sykes upped his game, recording the fourth fastest time in the hour-long session. Sykes took his Yamaha R1 around Losail in an impressive 1:59.632

Nice to see Jonny & Tom on the pace right away; should be a great season in WSB and SS600 championships for British & Irish riders.
