South African superbike star drafted into Kawasaki for Kyalami World Superbike round
SHERIDAN Morais will replace the injured Makoto Tamada at PBM Kawasaki for this weekend’s race at Kyalami.
The 2008 South African Superbike Champion was due to wildcard in World Supersport but was drafted into replace Tamada - who is out with a fractured hand - at the last minute.
Currently leading both the Superbike and Supersport SA series, Morais commented: “It came as a total surprise. I’ll need some time to adapt, but I only have to get used to the bike while the others still need to learn the track. The bike’s definitely good and, although I’ve never met any of the team except Guttridge (Kawasaki European racing division chief) they’re all professionals and they know what they’re doing.”
