WSB: Rossi v Bayliss - it's on!

Spanish mag Solomoto says a Rossi - Bayliss World Superbikes clash is going ahead!

Posted: 17 December 2008
by Visordown News

WE'VE HEARD many reports flying around this morning that Valentino Rossi has agreed to a one-off appearance in next year's WSB series - and he's going to take on Troy Bayliss!

According to our friends at Spanish mag Solomoto, the duel is set to take place during the second round of next year's championship at Losail circuit, Qatar, on March 14th. Rossi is set to ride a factory WSB-spec YZF-R1.

Imagine that! Rossi going elbow-to-elbow with the WSB boys, along with Bayliss, who's making a special one-off appearance. It's the stuff that dreams are made of.

Bloody hell!

Can't see it happening. Rossi won't want to risk injury at that stage if the season surely.

Can't beleive Yamaha would want Rossi risking injury this early in the season.  Why Losail anyway??  Biaggi must be excited to get another chance to get kicked around by Rossi.

Didn't Bayliss kick Rossi's ass in Motogp.

Bayliss whooped the whole moto gp line up at valencia in 2006 on his first go on a gp bike, but rossi crashed out in the early laps so it will be very interesting to see how this pans out.

Who is better? bayliss on a gp bike or rossi on the SBK r1.

His first go, if you forget his three years with Honda and Ducati in MotoGP

I think you'll find bayliss won once after 3 years of getting his assed kicked by lots of people so that makes it about 45-1 to rossi

I am a big fan of Rossi he would be brilliant on an R1.

Rossi and Bayliss raced together in the final round of Moto GP at Valencia 2006.

Bayliss has nothing to prove because he won that race.

Bayliss has nothing to prove on a Superbike....As awesome as Bayliss's win in Valencia was it still doesnt change the fact he had 3 years on good bikes and had a handfull of podiums and that win. he never proved himself seriously as a GP great. theres been other riders have more sucess than him and now off the radar. it was just the timing of Valencia that made it special.
Posted: 19/12/2008 23:39

helluvaquick
Bayliss wants a million quid for one race? I would have done it for half that.
Posted: 25/12/2008 00:45

100Watty

This race must NOT happen, no way, at all. Except unless they bring on at Brands or Donnington, now that would be SPECIAL. OH YES!

So he can only ride a bike that someone else has developed for him then. Isn't one of the skills of a top rider in being able to help develop a bike
Posted: 26/12/2008 22:23

John..
Bayliss is an excellent rider, more of a rider than any of us could ever hope to be, but I'm afraid to say he's not in the same class as Rossi.

it will never happen!!! more media bullshit!!! its a great way of getting people talking, and at the last minute there will be technical issues or rossi's hamster will die or some equally pathetic excuse will unfold...... dont get me wrong i hope to christ it does happen, but............i doubt it!!!

People honk on about these two going at it.Just hope the brits are allowed to get in the  mix as well. SBK will piss all over Moto GP this year coz they know how to put on a great show for the fans. Also dorna will have to sort out silverstone coz its one of the worst spectator tracks i have had the misfortune to go to
