Did he crash, didn't he crash? Jonny Rea gives his side of Day 3 at Phillip Island
JONNY REA has set a cat amongst the WSB pigeons in a Ten Kate Honda press release, saying that earlier reports of him crashing during a test at Phillip Island were wrong and he was, in fact, the fastest rider there!
Original reports had Michel Fabrizio quickest on the Xerox Ducati with a best of 1m 32.19, but Rea has now claimed to have topped that time with his best of 1m 31.8 - a record equalling time that was originally set by Troy Corser on the Yamaha in 2007.
In the statement, Rea said: "Well, according to some, I crashed today and was like seventh quickest. I'm happy to report, however, that I didn't crash and did a 1m 31.8s lap which we think was the fastest today!
"What matters is that we were able to find a setting that allows some tyre life at the end of the race and that I'm getting to grips with the traction control. We did two full race simulations today and the bike felt great. We know what we have to do next weekend but I'm really excited at the potential we've shown here."
