INJURED JAPANESE rider Yukio Kagayama is reported to be making fast progress from his injuries sustained at the USA round just over a couple of weeks ago.
After a visit to renowned specialist Dr Ting in America after the Superbike World Championship round in Utah Yukio had planned to have a bit of a holiday, with good friend Noriyuki Haga, at the ranch home of GP legend Kenny Roberts.
But he had to see Ting first and while he was there, he had a further CAT scan and his plaster cast on his leg was removed so that he could start rehabilitation.
The original diagnosis was that the injuries would take six months to heal, but with an intensive physiotherapy programme now underway, it looks as though Kagay will be out for this coming weekend's WSB racer at Misano.
"It was good to see Dr Ting and get another opinion and good that the opinion is very positive about my recovery. I am working hard to be in a good condition for Misano and I do not think my injuries will cause me any problems. It was fun hanging out with Nori, Kenny Sr and Kenny Jr and a good break away from the track for a while, but now I am thinking of Misano and getting back to my job as a racer."
