WSB: Haga Donington crash update (29th June)

Good news from Xerox Ducati after Haga's massive Donington crash

INJURED Ducati rider Noriyuki Haga will NOT undergo spinal surgery after further CT scans revealed fractures of the T8 and T9 vertebrae seen in earlier scans could actually be the remains of a previous incident.

It was feared Haga may have suffered spinal fractures after he was catapulted from his machine in an incident during race two at Donington Park yesterday.

Team manager David Tardozzi said:

"This is good news but of course it needs to be confirmed tomorrow, Monday. Nori will for sure undergo an operation on the ulna bone of his right forearm, because it is a displaced fracture and there is also a suspected fracture of the scapula (shoulder blade) bone. It is clear however that if he really doesn't need to have an operation to the vertebrae he could get away with a month's rest".
