Unofficial confirmation of Aprilia's WSB contract with Roman Emperor
The Italian will contest the company's all-new RSV4 superbike in the big bike class. He will ride in a one man Biaggi-Aprilia squad in all-Italian colours (ever the patriot, Max).
The move marks the final step in a high-profile official return to the class for the Italian company. Their exit from WSB in 2001 was put down to financial problems at the time.
The news will come as a disappointment to racing legend Jorge Martinez, who has been widely tipped as pursuing Biaggi for the vacant third Kawasaki MotoGP ride next year.
As yet, there is no official notification of the deal from either Biaggi or the factory. We'll bring you any news on that the moment we have it.
This could be an interesting partnership. Biaggi certainly has the experience, and the draw. Will it turn out good for both parties, or will the relationship turn sour before the season is out? It's definitely one to watch.

as a rider i love watching Biaggi ride, one of the most stylish i have seen.
as a personality i find him interesting, as every interview i have seen he has come accross very well
reported in the press it appears he is a bit difficult, but thats the press
WSB is better for having him there, and the show is what its all about for me

I have to say I like him too, but he does seem to have built a reputation for being difficult to work with.
I wonder if the Aprilia in it's first year is going to need lots of co-operation and understanding from both parties, which makes me wonder if this pairing isn't going to be good at.

I can't see Aprilia only planning on running one bike.
So maybe there are plans for another Aprilia team?
