MAX BIAGGI has spoken out after he was penalised and relegated to eleventh position at this weekend's Monza WSB meet - losing his podium glory in the process.
Biaggi commented: "I’m very angry, but I respect who took this decision, also if I do not agree with it. I would have understood it if I had taken the lead at that point, but the times clearly show that I was running a half second slower during that lap.”
When Biaggi climbed atop the podium to claim his third position, the loudspeaker announced the 20 second penalty demoting the Aprilia rider out of the top ten. In the end Honda rider Ryuichi Kiyonari took his place on the bottom step of the podium.
Not one to shy away from past clashes Biaggi brought up last year's accident: “It was exactly in that same point where Smrz ran straight ahead, hit me and no one did anything about it. I didn’t even want to race in the second heat, but then my good sense took over and I got onto the track anyway, despite all the controversy.”
