MARCO Melandri suffered a horrendous crash during the Laguna Seca qualifying session, after he clipped Kurtis Roberts, who was cruising on the racing line.
Melandri bailed out before the bike hit the wall. The Italian rider suffered a sprained left ankle, a ruptured ligament and multiple contusions. Less than 24 hours and around 20 injections later, Melandri was ready to race and he pulled off an amazing third place on race day.
