THE GO AHEAD for the world's first emission-free motorcycle road race - has been confirmed by Isle of Man Tourism and Leisure Minister Martyn Quayle.

The event, named the TTGP, will go ahead as scheduled on the morning of Isle of Man TT's Senior Race day, despite fears that insufficient teams or riders would be signed up in time for the start.

Mr Quayle told IOM Today:

"I can tell you that we are so excited about this and we have had very warm endorsement of it. It is still an incredible achievement and people around the world are holding the Isle of Man in awe for holding the event and for supporting technological advancement."
