BRITISH SUPERBIKE competitor Josh Brookes is currently in Japan testing for his ride in the Suzuka 8-Hour race for Honda.
The Aussie, who scored a brace of podiums at Knockhill in the BSB round there last weekend is running as team-mate to Chojun Kameya on the Dream RT Sakurai Honda. When Brookes last raced in the 8-Hour back in 2005 he finished a very credible sixth.
The race will go ahead on July 26 (the same weekend as the Brno round of the World Superbikes).
Brookes said: "I’m really looking forward to the race, it’s a great event to be a part of but the toughest thing is flying back and forth between Japan and the UK so that I’m back in plenty of time for the Mallory round.
“It’s been pretty wet out here during testing though so I wasn't able to achieve much except a bit of rain tyre practice."
With his regular pace and improving speed in the BSB championship, we reckon a podium at Suzuka might just be on the cards for Brookesey.
