Former WSB champ and Daytona 200 winner switches to four wheels in a return to the racetrack
FORMER WORLD Superbike Champion Scott Russell will be taking to the track once again this month - this time on four wheels rather than two.
The American will be taking part in the Rolex 24 at Daytona on 24-25th January, as part of a team alongside former bike racers Jason Pridmore, Jeff Ward and sports car ace Guy Cosmo. Supercross ace Ricky Carmichael was set to be part of the team but decided not to continue after initial testing.
Russell, a five-time winner of the Daytona 200 motorcycle race, got to grips quickly with his new machine. Team owner, Troy Flis said:
"Scott ran 35 minutes out there. He went from, I would say, a C to a B real quick. Their learning curve is so fast and so good that they're going to get there. We just have got to give them enough of a car and enough confidence that they know what it's going to do everytime."
"They're champions," he said of his team. "They're all used to running up front. They're very talented. Everybody knows it."
