Schumacher unconscious after huge highside

Former F1 champ out cold after crashing in testing for German Superbike Championship

BIKE RACING nut, the Teuton's Teuton and former seven-time F1 World Champion Michael Schumacher has had a big crash while motorcycle testing at the Cartagena circuit in Spain.

Schumacher was putting his bike through its paces as part of his preparation for the IDM German Superbike Championship, which he will be taking part in this year.

The German was riding a team Holzhauer Honda CBR1000 Fireblade when he reportedly highsided and was knocked out in the crash after banging his head during the spill.

He was rushed to a nearby hospital where he regained consciousness soon after. Schumacher complained of a painful neck and right wrist, but a scan ruled out any serious injuries.

Wait for it, if you listen really hard you can almost hear the F1 brigade piping up with their 'bikes worse than cars' mantra now...

The title of this report makes it sound as if he is currently still unconcious. Not just knocked out for a bit but is now recovered.

The pic looks more like a lowside.

That reads like he might be struggling to find things to do.  He's not an out of work school leaver.

Sometimes I hated him... sometimes I liked him... most times I didn't really care... this off he's had falls into the last category

FatBoyTim

as a driver he did my nut in,

but i have a new found respect for the bloke now, he is fking quick, probably a lot quicker than most people realise, and to be able to do it in cars and then have a go at competitive bike racing at his age deserves a certain amount of credit

what a jealous bunch we are.quickest in the world in a car.pretty quick on a bike too, falls of a fair bit so at least he is human.maybe not ,but respect to the man wish i was blasting round a racetrack in the sun instead working for a living.

Mäc

Well said, User 63243!

To achieve what Schumi did/does, he has to be able to shut out the outside world and concentrate 100% on what he is doing, which makes him appear like a machine sometimes.

I was never a fan of his but I have huge respect for his achievements.

Despite my earlier comment.

I have great respect for the man and regardless of his F1 achievements or fame: he is a biker and I'm glad he is OK in the same way i would if anybody else on this site had an 'off'.

If you spoke to Michael he would only tell you he was following orders and knew nothing of that bomb dropped on Shoreham-on-sea in 1941.....

Posted: 19/02/2009 at 09:39

Mäc

I'm older than him and I know nothing about WWII bombs...

Poor fella. As a stereotype German he'll never have a lot of luck where Brits are concerned.

As Basil Fawlty said: Don't mention the war!

V-fun
I mentioned it once....But I think I got away with it!

The guy is a great talent and talent, like music is an international currency.

The envy is mine..ALL MINE!!!! (or did I say Nein!!!!!).
