Schumacher to miss IDM Superbike race

Ex-F1 God opts to play safe following February's huge training crash

SEVEN-TIME Formula One champion Michael Schumacher is to miss this coming weekend's IDM Superbike races at the Lausitzring due to injuries sustained in a crash earlier this year.

The German tore muscles in his shoulder and neck when he highsided his Honda Fireblade while testing at Cartagena circuit, Spain. Schumacher was knocked unconscious in the high-speed crash. Speaking on his reluctant decision not to race:

"I must unfortunately call it off, because my injuries are still not good. I'm having problems moving my head due to stiffness in my neck.

"Motorcycle racing is for me a fun thing. But I try to ride responsibly and with an injury like this, then that is just not possible," the German said.
