POPULAR RACER Jonathan Rea was named Irish Motorcyclist of the Year at the Irish Racer Awards in Belfast at the weekend.
The 21-year-old Honda man, who was runner-up in the 2008 World Supersport Championship, collected his award along with Hanspree Honda team-mate Andrew Pitt, won the GPS International Achievement award.
Rea moves to the big-league in 2009, racing in the hotly-contested WSB series.
