Despite high winds and a tumble on day one, Simoncelli tops the timesheets at Estoril
MARCO SIMONCELLI rounded off the two-day 250cc test in Estoril with an impressively quick series of laps to be fastest overall, despite high winds battering the Portugese circuit.
In the final session on Monday, his quarter litre rival Hector Barbara nudged his way into top spot, and given the worsening weather conditions the time was not bettered second day. Defending 250cc World Champion still managed to beat everyone else on day two, though.
Barbera managed a best time of 1m 41.113 on Monday and despite the second day's high winds Simoncelli managed his second day best of 1m 41.245.
Incredibly, the second fastest day-two man was Thai Honda's Ratthapark Wilairot who banged in a best of 1m 41.518, third fastest rider was Scot Racing's Hiroshi Aoyama with a 1m 41.525, while Hector Faubel was fourth and Barbera fifth.
The next test for the riders will be a three day outing at the end of the month as part of the Jerez test.
