No Yamaha World Supersport team for 2010?
Yamaha Italy lay-off 66 staff as company downsizes
FRESH ON THE heels of winning MotoGP, WSB, WSS, BSB and just about everything else on the racing calendar, Yamaha Motor Itay is laying off 66 people from their staff of 200.
According to reports in the Italian press, the company has told the trade union in Lesmo that it is re-organising its own staff structure because of a downturn in business.
The news has sparked fresh rumours in the WSB paddock that there will be no World Supersport team in the championship next year (at least, not an official one) because funds are so tight.
Which will mean that Yamaha Italy might only be fielding the WSB squad of James Toseland and Cal Crutchlow in 2010.
