THE British Motorcycle Racing Club will run a new Kawasaki powered National Junior Cup for the 2012 season.

The class will use the Kawasaki Ninja 250R twin-cylinder 4-stroke and the new series will feature a full race package obtainable through nominated UK dealers in the Kawasaki network. The baby Ninja will be fully prepared and ready to race. The package price is expected to be in the range of £5000-5500. The tyres will be a control Pirelli, technical rules will be announced in due course.

With ACU approval, the package is to be made available to riders aged from 13 on Novice licences in 2012. The Series will run over eight rounds, predominantly with the BMCRC together with exposure at the MCE Insurance British Superbike Championship.

Mike Dommett, CEO at BMCRC says: “The time is right to create a new-look series for this age group on a race-proven bike. This Series will give young riders the exposure that we hope will prove attractive to them, the great package price means that will also work for their parents and sponsors. They should enjoy lower running costs and easier maintenance compared to the 2-strokes that have been the bikes of choice for this group for many years”

Interested riders are invited to express their initial interest in obtaining more information on the series by email to rburridge@kawasaki.co.uk at Kawasaki.

There is already a Ninja 250 race series running in other countries including the USA, France, Spain and South Africa.
