Circuit to be widened in parts, hotel and museum planned

AS PART of a drive to host BTCC, Formula 3 and GT car racing events, Cadwell Park will undergo changes.

Parts of the circuit will need to be widened in order to accomodate the cars. The site will receive a £6 million track extension, new grandstands, new pits and better dining facilities, as well as a hotel and museum.

The project will be funded by MotorSport Vision and will hopefully include an improvement to the paddock which is well below par compared to other national circuits.

Lincolnshire County Council are also planning to build a new motor technology park plot of land close to the circuit.

Councillor Eddy Poll said: "We will be seeking to create infrastructure and facilities that will attract new companies to the area, bringing employment opportunities. It's envisioned that these will predominantly be new start-up or spin-off businesses in the motor and transportation technology sector."

"This project has enormous potential. The grandstands are currently made up of old wooden seats and it really is out of date. The British Superbikes Championship is by far the biggest sporting event in the county. In terms of facilities, the venue is lacking some real basics, but this development could make it one of the best in the country."

Don't touch the mountain, simply build another route round it if necessary, don't mess with it or people will be in up roar.

Well, Snetterton has been improved. I'm still REALLY unsure about the "updates" MSV are pushing through at Brands Hatch. And now this....

Hmmmmmmmmmmmmmm

If they are changing the restuarant area there is scope to have an additional bit of track that runs up to the paddock area and maybe move the restuarant altogether. This will be great for the circuit, and the local economy. I cannot see them ruining one of the best circuits around. Some better loo's and showers for campers would be appreciated.

As long as it is jsut a track extension and not alteration i think this will be great! not a fan the the blue portaloos myself!

ALSO, BUILD A FECKING BRIDGE!
Its a pain in the arse if youre trying to get away early and either get stuck in a crowd to get across the track or have to walk all the way around the track.

And forget BTCC and all that other crap. How about a push to get world supers to cadwell park. Now that would be awsome

I like riding the Snetterton 300 layout but I really wish they would leave Cadwell alone. It's a brilliant bike circuit just as it is.

last time I was there a rider died on the mountain. By all means improve the runoff, but don't change the track

NOOOOOO!!!!!
Just rip out the kagayama chicane and put in more run off! Cadwell is unique and legendary, please don't ruin it! B****cks to the car championships, tell 'em to get smaller cars! Why don't MSV save up and just build another new circuit in the south where there are hardly any? (Thruxton doesn't count, they never let anyone apart from bsb use it and Combe needs much more run off to make it bike happy)In fact don't build a new one, buy Thruxton and actually let bikes use it!

We'll have to wait to see the plans but snetterton apart, these changes usually make tracks less fun to ride. :(

Hopt they don't mess it up. Can't see why the cars would need the mountain altering , I saw the alfa romeo club race there and they managed ok in touring car sized cars.
If they mess it up for the bikes I'll be boycotting anything to do with MSV.
