BRITAIN's James Toseland lost the front on the third lap of the morning at Sachsenring - a track where he has never raced before.
Toseland's manager Roger Burnett said he was disappointed as his crash was due to a rider error - braking on a white line.
However, Toseland was unhurt and completed a further 25 laps of the morning session, but with a fastest lap of 1:23.864 he was over two seconds slower than current world champion Casey Stoner, who was again at the top of the timesheets. His time of 1:21.582 was a new lap record.
Honda rookie Alex De Angelis also impressions the crowds as he bagged second in both sessions, while title contenders Valentino Rossi and Dani Pedrosa were both over a second slower than Stoner's Ducati.
