REIGNING MOTOGP World Champion Casey Stoner, dominated qualifying at the Sachsenring today, clinching pole position ahead of tomorrow's Grand Prix.

The Australian clinched his fourth consecutive pole, breaking the lap record with a best of 1:21.067. Stoner also smashed the circuit record during practice yesterday.

Repsol Honda's Dani Pedrosa claimed second on the grid in a late, last lap bid on qualifying rubber. Colin Edwards continued his excellent form taking third spot ahead of tomorrow's race.

Valentino Rossi couldn't match Stoner's form, ending the session in a lowly seventh place. Britain's James Toseland managed a respectable ninth as the hour-long stint drew to a close.

Stoner's result means Bridgestone stand an excellent chance of claiming their first two-wheeled victory at the Sachsenring tomorrow.

Rossi hasn't lost his edge.  Not to take anything away from Stoner but the Ducati seems to have a horsepower edge.
