MOTOGP RIZLA Suzuki riders Capirossi and Vermeulen were both delighted with the new chassis tested for the first time at Brno after the race, and both switched to it after only a few laps on the old one at Misano.

The changes are mainly in weight placement, with the fuel tank now visibly further back and lower than before.

“The bike worked pretty good straight out of the crate,” said Vermeulen. “It feels like we’ve taken a big step forward.”

But the factory staff were amusingly very coy about the bike, surrounding it with screens in the pit whenever bodywork was removed. That said, both riders went well in the GP; Capirossi notched up a seventh while Vermeulen stormed to an impressive fifth place.
