MotoGP: Lorenzo's on the mend

Head trauma and a skin graft - it's all in a day's work for a MotoGP rookie

THREE days after the accident that forced him to miss yesterday's Catalan Grand Prix at Montmelo, Jorge Lorenzo’s recovery is progressing well at the Institut Dexues in Barcelona. The 21-year-old sustained head trauma and damage to his right hand in Friday’s crash but is improving, although Dr. Xavier Mir confirmed that he will need a small skin graft to replace the skin he has lost on his hand.

“After further observation we are pleased to say that the cranial trauma that Jorge suffered on Friday has improved without any further complications,” said the Doctor. “This still needs to be verified with another CAT scan, however, and for this reason we have moved Jorge to another part of the hospital yesterday afternoon.

Regarding other injuries, we have evaluated the abrasion on his right hand and we can confirm that he has more than two centimetres of skin missing from his fourth finger. For this reason we have decided that it will be necessary to make a skin graft.”

Ouch.

It would probably be useful, considering the square route of FA you have said so far.

I was tring to say that Lorenzo should not have been on the bike in first place as he was no ready cause of the last big crash I like him but he is a mad

Abel

Seemed to be doing fine until he crashed.

So you are saying he wouldn't have crashed had he been 100%?

Posted: 09/06/2008 at 16:13

Chrisz

yes

Posted: 09/06/2008 at 16:18

Abel

Yeah, cos nobody ever crashes when they are 100% do they?

Proves nothing much at all. Especially not your "point".

You are not in a position to even have an opinion on whether he was fit enough or not, not being a medical proffesional or having examined him.

The medical professionals(plural) that did assess him clearly thought he was up to it.

The fact he crashed does not prove he was not.

You have to grip the bike with more then you hands push here a pull there just to musle the bike around the track is hard enough for a sound body person never mind someone who has his injures?

Posted: 09/06/2008 at 16:33

Abel

Well I guess you know more about it than me.

And a professional GP racer and the entire medical team that signed him off fit.

I bow to your superior knowledge and wish you all the best for next years championship.

fair play to him - Lorenzo has gone up so much in my estimation this year.  incredible talent and a tough fucker to boot!

i thought he was a bit of a pussy but he clearly isn't!

Motorbike racers are proper tough guys/girls - that's the reason people love 'em!
