JORGE LORENZO will have to wear a plaster cast for the next ten days after the highside at Laguna Seca that left him with a smashed left foot.
The Spaniard fractured the third, fourth and fifth metatarsal bones in the foot in the opening laps of the race on Sunday.
Lorenzo said: "Dr. Xavier Mir has confirmed to me that although it is a painful injury right now but it will get better once it is in the cast and has been rested for a few days."
Lorenzo travelled from the States straight to the University Dexeus of Barcelona where Mir, the man who has already operated on Lorenzo for forearm, ankle and foot injuries this year, assessed the most recent injury.
Lorenzo added: "I am quite sore and angry, because this latest fall has stopped the progression I felt we were making again. Although thankfully I did not suffer any more injury in the fall, my right foot took a painful knock and because it hurts so much I cannot walk for the next few days.
"Luckily I have plenty of time to recover before the next round at Brno, ao I am going to enjoy on television one of my passions, the Tour de France."
