NICKY HAYDEN'S foot injury proved costly after he failed to start this weekend's Misano GP. The former world champion found he was unable to use the rear brake as normal.
“I use the rear brake quite a lot, but the problem is where my brake is, when I touch it or push the peg it pushes right back into the break on the bone. We put a lot lighter spring on and it helped a bit. My foot’s not great, and it’s getting a little bit worse each session,” he said, after qualifying a lowly 16th.
He continued: “With these boys at this level, your best days are hard enough, so when you’ve got anything holding you back, it’s not easy. Specially when you use your feet a lot to change direction. I ride a lot more with my lower body than my upper body.”
On race morning, Hayden elected to sit out the Grand Prix and save himself for the next Grand Prix at Indianapolis on September 14th.
