FORMER DOUBLE Superbike World Champion Colin Edwards may return to race in the US next year, but would prefer to stay in MotoGP.

Edwards met with Yamaha US after the Chinese GP, but said that nothing was resolved. “Those guys sponsored me in motocross when I was 11, so it was like old buddies meeting up. Nothing was settled, and no decision was made. But they said if I wanted to come back, they would have a house for me to come to,” he said.

“I let it be known I’d rather stay here (in MotoGP), now we have the bike good. I feel pretty good about staying – there’s a couple of things that could happen.

“There’s a pretty good possibility I could stay here in the Tech 3 team,” he continued. “A lot depends on budget, though I’m probably not supposed to say that.”

The Tech 3 team has moved back to the front positions this year since switching from Dunlop to Michelin tyres, but remains without a major sponsor.
