Bridgestone have released the results into the cause of Pedrosa's serious tyre wear at Motegi
THE REASON for Dani Pedrosa's serious tyre wear from Motegi has been revealed to be a small foreign object embedded into the Bridgestone front slick.
Bridgestone Motorsport Manager, Tohru Ubukata released the findings during the post race debrief of Le Mans regarding the tyre issue, he said: “Since Motegi we have also learned more about Dani’s front tyre. After a detailed inspection, we found a small foreign object that had become embedded within the tread of the front slick. This was the origin of a weak point in the tread of the tyre which, during the course of the race, worked its way to the surface, causing a crack to form in the rubber.”
With the demand of supplying the entire MotoGP field, this excuse appears to avoid responsibility on Bridgestone's behalf, but no other problems have appeared regarding tyre failure so far.
Hopefully the issue will not escalate, especially considering the catasphrophic rear tyre failure for Shinya Nakano at Mugello in 2004.
