IT'S WAY too early to take much from this, but the first actual test times from a Moto2 prototype chassis have sneaked out from the Blusens BQR team - and they're a full second off the best 250cc GP times.
Robbie Rolfo (the man who was kicked out of WSB this year) has been testing the bike at Jerez again and did a best time of 1m 44.3 (lap record in the 250cc class that Moto2 will replace was set by Alvaro Bautista this year with a 1m 43.338).
Speaking after the test Rolfo said: "We are very happy and content with the performance and times we managed at Jerez.
"I like the circuit very much and after this test I think that the Moto2 class will be great fun to do. Of course, when we come to race them properly we will have the proper engine and the chassis will be more developed."
Which is a weird thing to say because the engine isn't the standard Honda one, with a 16,500rpm rev limit and 115dB noise cap, standard data-logging and ECU unit that was announced by Honda last week. In fact, the cut-off point for any team wanting to take part in the Moto2 class registering their interest officially is today (Friday). Once they have, they will get a model and 3d AutoCAD display of the motor from which they need to build their chassis around, so a lot of the work that Blusens BQR has done already could effectively count for nothing once they have shoehorned the new motor in.
We'll watch with interest.
