He doesn't want to, but Marco says he'll sit out 2009 if Kawasaki deal falls through
UNLUCKY ITALIAN Marco Melandri says he'll take a year off MotoGP if Kawasaki pulls the plug on the premier racing series.
The talented rider, who had a string of bad luck with Ducati last year, was quoted by Reuters news agency as saying:
"It wouldn't be great but... to stop for a year would not be a huge problem. I'm waiting. I hope the date is not put back because it is better to know for sure that you won't be racing, rather than carrying on with uncertainty."
Despite the possibility of a MotoGP withdrawal, Kawasaki have just finished a two-day test at Eastern Creek race circuit, near Sydney, Australia.
So much for cost-cutting, eh lads? Surely a weekend at Pembrey would have been less heavy on the finances?
