MICHAEL DUNLOP, son of the late Robert Dunlop, has said he's thrilled at the prospect of riding Norton's new NRV 588 racer in this year's Senior TT race.

Speaking at last night's media launch at the Villa Marina in Douglas, ahead of this year's two-week race programme, the Irishman said he was stunned at the amount of interest shown in the bike.

Dunlop said he realised the black Norton was something special when he made his appearance with the machine yesterday in front of the motorcycle media.

"It's a part of TT racing history," said the plucky road racer.

It's 16 years since Norton last raced at the TT; the late Steve Hislop took victory in the 1992 Senior aboard the company's rotary racer.
